That’s why we’ve developed a comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan—a clear roadmap for minimizing our carbon footprint and contributing to the UK’s net-zero ambitions.

1. Purpose
The purpose of this Carbon Reduction Plan is to outline Amberside Accounting Ltd’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint in alignment with UK government targets and requirements for becoming a Crown Commercial Service (CCS) approved supplier. This plan aims to demonstrate the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability and compliance with best practices in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

2. Scope
This plan applies to all Amberside Accounting Ltd operations, including office facilities, business travel, procurement processes, and employee engagement initiatives. It covers both direct and indirect emissions, reflecting our holistic approach to carbon reduction.

3. Commitment to Net Zero
Amberside Accounting Ltd commits to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. Interim targets include a 20% straight line reduction in emissions per employee per year until 2030, in line with the UK government’s Net Zero Strategy.

4. Emissions Baseline
A comprehensive baseline assessment of emissions has been conducted, covering:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g., office heating).

  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity.

  • Scope 3: Other indirect emissions, including business travel, supply chain, and waste management.

5. Carbon Reduction Initiatives
To achieve our carbon reduction goals, Amberside Accounting Ltd will implement the following initiatives:

  • Energy Efficiency:

    • Upgrade office lighting to energy-efficient LEDs.

    • Implement automated energy management systems.

    • Encourage flexible working to reduce office energy consumption.

  • Renewable Energy:

    • Transition to 100% renewable electricity in 2025.

  • Travel and Transportation:

    • Promote virtual meetings to reduce business travel.

    • Incentivise the use of electric or hybrid vehicles for business purposes.

    • Implement a cycle-to-work scheme.

  • Supply Chain Management:

    • Engage with suppliers committed to sustainability.

    • Prioritise environmentally responsible products and services.

  • Waste Reduction and Recycling:

    • Improve recycling facilities in all office locations.

    • Minimise single-use plastics and promote sustainable office supplies.

  • Employee Engagement:

    • Conduct regular staff training on sustainability practices.

    • Encourage employees to contribute ideas for carbon reduction.

  • Annual reviews of emissions data to track progress against targets.

  • Publish an annual carbon reduction report available to stakeholders.

  • Adjust strategies based on technological advancements and new opportunities.

7. Governance and Accountability

  • Managing Director: Overall responsibility for the Carbon Reduction Plan.

  • Sustainability Officer: Coordinates and monitors carbon reduction initiatives.

  • All Employees: Responsible for contributing to and adhering to carbon reduction practices.

8. Collaboration and External Engagement
Amberside Accounting Ltd will work with industry groups, government bodies, and external consultants to stay informed about best practices and evolving regulations in carbon reduction.

9. Policy Review and Updates
This plan will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect new developments and emerging sustainability practices.
